The commando

Samuel is growing into a bully. 😦

First I got bitten by the commando baby yesterday.

He is also nicknamed commando in class for his signature crawl that is with such persistence.

His strength is unbelievable. And the most amazing thing is how fast he learn. I gave him straw for the third time and he is sucking from it right away,

Today he slipped off the toilet bowl, did a three sixty turn and landed on his fours. My heart jumped and I thought he was about to hit himself against the bathtub. But being so nimble (small), he was able to turn the situation around swiftly.

And at the restaurant where he met Kellyn for the first time, he was so friendly that he freaked her out. Kellyn refused to sit in her baby chair after Samuel snatches her spoon and rice rusks.

Before we left, he even make sure he gave a good tug of Miko’s plaids.

Now I’m beginning to worry how to teach him about sharing and learning to love one another.

Bite mark on my arm

9 months

By now baby can crawl really fast. I brought him to trial class at Leap Schoolhouse and he zoomed across so quickly that one parent was commenting ‘here comes the commando’. He was the youngest in class, the only baby that is still crawling while others were walking. Yet he’s fearless. He tried to crawl forward to catch the soapy bubbles and it did not bother him that other babies were running all around him. And when the teacher shown him flashcards asking him which is the airplane. He leaned forward and picked the correct one. Daddy says my face was glowing and I look so proud. Next, he caught the teachers’ attention by swaying his butt to the music. He is always so bubbly. A lot of teachers came by to play with him.

These two weeks ever since he could call mama. It has been mama mama constantly. Occasionally he would call out dada or papa or mum mum randomly.

I should keep a log of the dates he started greeting us but becoz I was so overwhelmed with the new house that I haven’t been blogging.

The protective grandparents and the trying not to be protective mum

I was having this conversation with my mum about preparing the house for cub’s crawling one of these days. She then told me to get more knee protectors or she could made some out of old clothing. Out of curiosity, I asked what did she used when we were babies since I don’t think they have knee protectors back then. Apparently she didn’t allow my bro and I to crawl much. Actually I have intentions to enter Sam into a baby crawling contest later. Just kidding! 😉

Even as simple as feeding, my mum didn’t had the heart to force the cub to drink more as she’s afraid he might overeat. Actually why am I even surprised? Like my team mate used to tell me the role of the grandparents is to dote on the grandkids. So my parents have been overprotective all their life, so it’s probably even worse as grandparents.

I can’t say I blame her since I didn’t have the heart to wake up the cub for longer nursing period too. And I didn’t used to burp him at night coz I didn’t want to wake him up from his sleep. And so as a result, his gas build up by morning is usually terrible resulting in lots of spills.

Now with maternity leave almost over in a month’s time, I’m starting to panicked with the horrible routine in place and not forgetting the bottle rejection issue.
