First movie with Cousin Sophia

The pair at Camp Asia

Last Saturday was your first movie going with Cousin Sophia. The two of you is like partner in crime. I can totally see the reason why your teacher preferred to keep two of you separated. One scream, the other follow with a yell. You guys were fidgeting at one point, I was getting worried. Imagine 2 monkeys attacking the popcorn bag nonstop, there were popcorns everywhere. Next, you took off to the steps and Cousin Sophia went along. Still, as long as you guys are not making noise. I’m fine for you to sit anywhere. Having the two of you in an enclosed space like in a car can be overwhelming. I cannot imagine having another pair in 3-6 months’ time. I supposed when you run out this time of the restaurant, there were 3 other followers. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I was happy we finally see the movie, ‘How to train your Dragon 2’ before they pulled this off the theatres. It feels strange watching these with you. Daddy and I seen the first one during our dating days. And now you are there with us to watch the sequel.

Celebrating Post Children’s Day

Like every weekend, we start by having breakfast. It’s almost a ritual and all good because he’s able to remain seated longer through meals. I’m not the most creative person when it comes to meals. Once a week, we’d do Mcdonald’s breakfast. Otherwise it will be the nearest cafe in whichever area I am visiting.

Since it’s post Children’s day celebration, I decided to bring Samuel to the movies. It’s one of my favourites weekend activities. No hassle. Mornings at the theatres belonged to the families. It’s a different scene. No dating couples, no singles hangouts, not even queues at the ticket booths. You don’t need to book early. It’s almost guaranteed that they have seats.

So I was surprised to see the seats almost filled up for Disney planes. Didn’t even realise it’s so popular. Not that I have a clue what the movie is about. I would have prefer to watch ‘About time’ or ‘Gravity’.

My guess is everyone is celebrating children’s day the same way. Two thirds of the theater is filled with non local people. There are the dads on play dates with their children and dad with maid and their children. And of course, the whole family with all their children. So Samuel and I stood out.

The cafe in Lido served good breakfast. I ordered the carrot cake with XO sauce. Poor Samuel mistaken the XO chili sauce for just deep fried onions. He licked it off the plate before I could stopped him and started fussing over his burning mouth.

Before we went into the show, Samuel reminded me that he wants popcorn. To him, celebration also means having the popcorn all by himself. Everytime when I try to stuff my hands into his popcorn cup, he would make sure his hands are still in it. I meant literally the whole hand and both hands.

Just before the movie begin, a CGI 3D dinosaur roared on screen with a message ‘Keep your phone off’. It freaked me out and Samuel actually jerks up. Why would they even slot in such a frightening commercial in a kid’s movie?! I hope he won’t get another nightmare from this.

So glad he went back to his pop corn as soon as the movie starts. I actually like the movie. Simple underdog becomes the hero theme. Inspiring! I was completely engrossed hoping the small cropduster plane will win the global race against the other bigger, better fighter planes. Obviously I related better with the small plane ๐Ÿ˜‰

An hour later Samuel had the popcorn all wiped out with butter oil on his face and hands. I can’t even imagine how a toddler could stuff all the popcorn in that small tummy of his. The cup looks bigger than his tummy. With the popcorn gone, he starts figeting. ‘Mummy I need to go out’. As we all know he’s still in his diapers so he doesn’t need to go to the loo.

I was eager to watch the ending hence that is no way I’m walking out. I coaxed the young one with his fav ‘safety blanket’. When the lights were up and it’s time to go, I couldn’t move because there were a tot sleeping soundly on my laps. It is a nice Sat morning!
